Requirements for Energy Audits and tax credits

Did you know there are requirements to an energy audit in order to claim the tax credit?Be leary of those who would try to sell you a free of low cost energy audit that doesn't meet those requirements. The link above lists a lot of what can be claimed and how much. The link below lists some of the requirements of the energy audit under 3.2.2 program requirements. The first of those requirements states. "Complies with the steps and procedures for home energy auditing in accordance with ANSI/BPI 1100-T-2023 and ANSI/BPI 1200-S-2017". This means that means only a BPI certified Energy Auditor or Building Analyst Professional can perform the audit In order to meet the requirements of the tax credit.
