4/21/2010 Big changes in new Energy Star homes  4/21/2010
New version 3 guiidelines of the Energy Star homes program are available for review on the Energy Star new homes page.  These changes are going to be signifiacant and on top of the big changes we've already experienced in the past 6 months.  Guideilines are going to be more strict, and with more accountability from the contractors performing the work on your new home.  Some of the changes are:
  • The Thermal Enclosure System Rater Checklist
  • The HVAC System Quality Installation Rater & Builder Checklists
  • The Water Management System Checklists

Yes you read it correctly- water managment and runoff are also going to be adressed in your new homes ENERGY STAR rating. 

The first of these changes should start to take place early next year with a gradual implementation of the rest of the final approved measures.

Of course along with these new measures we will still continue to provide the whole house aproach to your rating.
