Wisconsin Home Performance Audit -Initial Visit

In most cases the initial visit lasts two to three hours and includes an inspection of your home, Home Performance testing and an infrared scan of your home.

After the non invasive inspection and tests are completed, we take this information and put it into a report that is your scope of work so you or your contractor can use as it a guide to making the improvements you should make to your home. You usually receive this report via e-mail along with any color infrared pictures taken during the infrared scan of your home within a couple days of our inspection.

For your convenience, we also include a list of contractors who have performed work on other customers of ours homes and have worked along side so they better understand what we're seeing and how to take care of issues that arise.

Once the improvements you're going to make have been performed call us back to let us know you're done and we'll come back out to your home to conduct post testing.  If you have receipts for the work completed that qualify for rebates from Focus on Energy then we'll bill the Focus on Energy program for our return visit, as well as submit the paperwork necessary for them to send you a check for the rebates you qualify for.  **CURRENT REWARDS THROUGH THE FOCUS ON ENERGY PROGRAM ARE ONLY AVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH 31st 2012.  Click on our news tab for more information.

For a complete list of rewards from Focus on Energy available until March 31st 2012 (for having a Home Performance evaluation completed on your home prior to January 1, 2012) click here.

Keep in mind that when making improvements to your home, a change to one part of the home will affect other parts of the home too. Which is why despite the fact that we may be at your home for one problem, such as high utility bills for example; we check for other things too relating to indoor air quality, ventilation, combustion safety, and insulation levels. This process is known in the industry as, "The whole house aproach".  Once we’ve determined how your home is used, it's current conditions, and what’s happening in your home- we can then effectively determine the scope of work needed to resolve your homes issues.

Notice in the pictures below how, in different houses, different areas of homes are affected by energy loss.

Address the home as a whole and don't rely on single "cure all" remedies such as attic ventilation. Those remdies may actually make matters worse.

The basic types of inspection and performance testing we perform at every home include:

  • Carbon monoxide testing (furnace and water heater)
  • Infra red scan (as shown above)
  • Consultation of what's occurring during testing

If we find other issues with your home that need to be addressed we may complete these additional tests in addition to the ones listed above:

  • Duct testing
  • Zone pressure testing/diagnostics
  • Pressure panning
  • Basic solar evaluation
  • Moisture / humidity
  • Combustion appliance testing
  • Electrical consumption analysis
  • Duct airflow testing

NOTE: The following is changing after March 31st 2012, click on our news tab for more information under the article labeled, "Big changes for 2012".  Rewards are from FOCUS ON ENERGY and the rewards are not always available or guaranteed. Certain requirements to qualify for the rewards do apply. Rewards only become available to our customers after a pre-assessment, improvements and post visit have been completed along with applicable reciepts for the qualifying rewards.

We submit the paperwork for you to claim rewards available to you from Focus on Energy however; actual rewards paid are up to the discretion of FOCUS ON ENERGY. To claim the Focus rewards you may qualify for we do need copies of the receipts for the work completed! Without them we don't get paid from FOCUS ON ENERGY for the post visit and you don't get the rewards that may be available to you.

Due to circumstances beyond our control-If we show up for a scheduled post visit, and there are no receipts for the completed work we will have to bill you for our trip to your house and our time!

*Oil and LP customers of participating utilities may have limited rewards available to them.
