New changes in 2016 WI code SPS 322.37
The results of the Focus on Energy New Homes Program are in and show that things are looking up. The average air tightness of Builder built homes who participate in the Focus New Homes Program has dropped to .13 air changes per hour. The average builder built home who participates in the Focus New Homes Program or NHP is 31% better than code. The home Energy rating index (HERS index) is 53. Most impressive is the number of homes certified in WI through the new homes program the last 3 years running total over 6500 homes certified. That means builders voluntarily participated in the Focus NHP program and allowed independent 3rd party HERs raters such as Beyond Energy LLC to go into their homes while being built to be rigorously inspected. This is because builders who participate in the program are confident in the product they deliver to their clients and want to help ensure their customers obtain the best home they can provide for their customers budget.
